Unless the great financial god in the sky appears tomorrow morning with a big smile on his face and an open cheque book, I think that we can assume the answer is no. Even the financial gods would struggle in the current market to get some of our lenders to start lending again, something which most of them have struck off the current curriculum, like taking mashed potato off the school menu.
I think that we could put up with school dinners with designer lumpy potatoes if our lenders started lending again, it would be a small price to pay to hear those magic words, yes of course we are lending and we are looking for business in this area.
And then I woke up and realized that I would have to work just as hard or harder to get a commercial mortgage past the credit committee if it was more than 60% LTV and a blue chip company, with ten years of pristine trading accounts, and a cash flow to make your eyes water, well we can only dream.
We have to stay positive and keep talking to our lenders and hope that the current artic conditions begin to thaw as summer comes in with a beaming smile and lots of positive vibes to get the Country, commercial mortgages, finance and loans back on track. Counting commercial mortgages instead of sheep does not enable you to have a peaceful night.
Commercial mortgages are the very life blood of business without which business cannot function and prosper, which means we are stuck in the slough of despond for much longer than any of us need or want to be. The summer sunshine always brings a smile to our faces and that’s what we need on the face of banking, a smile.
